The junior was a breakout star in the Chicago area last season.

Chris Mack has his first commitment from the class of 2021 in the form of four-star forward Bryce Hopkins of Chicago. Hopkins, who was an official visitor during U of L’s 78-55 win over Youngstown State, announced his commitment on social media Sunday night.

“I picked Louisville because this was the third time visiting Louisville and every time I’ve been the coaches have been genuine and they had a great vision for me that I loved,” Hopkins told 247 Sports. ”They were all genuine and with me being away from my parents for that part of my life I feel like they will continue to groom me to become a better young man. It just felt like family with them.”

A current junior at Fenwick High School in Chicago, Hopkins was a breakout star at the varsity level as a sophomore, averaging 22.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc. He scored 30 or more points six times in 2018-19.

A versatile 6’6 forward who can play and defend multiple positions, Hopkins is currently rated as the No. 64 overall player in the 2021 class by Rivals. Kansas, Ohio State, Illinois, Wisconsin and Missouri are among the other schools that have already offered Hopkins.
