Boston College: Jerome Robinson Making Case for Most Improved Player in ACC

There will be a lot of names that could be in the running for ACC Most Improved Player this season but one player, from a team that has had its struggles early on, could be making a strong case early on.

Jerome Robinson, a 6-foot-5 sophomore for Boston College is coming off a freshman campaign in which he averaged 11.7 points per game for the Eagles; a solid number for such a young talent.

However, this year, he is looking to double those numbers and has shown that he could be one of the top sophomores the conference has to offer and in the nation.

Right now, Robinson is averaging 19.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game and is coming off his first double-double of the season (23 points, 11 rebounds) in the Eagles thrilling win against Auburn Monday night.

Robinson isn’t a name that will immediately stand out to you or get the looks in the ACC like Luke Kennard, Dwayne Bacon, Bonzie Colson, and others early on, all who have had solid seasons and could be up for the award.  But as of Tuesday, Robinson sits third in the ACC in scoring, is shooting 42 percent from the floor and becoming a nice outside threat as well for the Eagles.

Not to mention he is the only true threat the Eagles have this season offensively (only player averaging double figures this season).

The numbers have been impressive early on but could continue to rise.  In four of his last five games, Robinson has scored 23 or more points.  He also has already surpassed 22+ points in six of the 10 games this year.  Robinson also does a lot for his team in other areas; attacking the boards, dishing out assists, and getting it done on the defensive end.

Though he might not be on a team that will finish over .500 this year possibly, he certainly is a name that should be in consideration at the end of the year if the numbers hold up.
