Back to back 7 win seasons, gave Boston College fans hope that Steve Addiazo was starting to build something at BC. Then last year the bottom fell out as the Eagles went 3-9 which included a winless ACC record. Injuries, inexperience, and just plain old bad luck led to the disappointing season. Despite this the Boston College still had statistically the best defense in the country. Can BC have a turnaround season?

Will Go 7-5 (3-5)
If the offense can just be mediocre. How would mediocre an upgrade? Last year Boston College was flat out dreadful on offense ranking 126th in the country in offense. Tough to win when you can’t score more than 17 points in 10 straight games. I can’t imagine it could be worse, especially with the return of solid RB Jon Hilliman. There’s some talent at receiver, and the offensive line should be better.

I doubt the defense will be as stout as last year especially after the loss DC Don Brown, but there’s some quality players on that side of the ball, and this should be a top 25 unit. If BC can beat Georgia Tech in game one, a 4-1 start is very likely.

Will Go 4-8 (1-7) if:
The defense regress, and the offense is still a mess. Scot Leoffler is the new OC, and he never impressed when he was at Virginia Tech. The offense can’t be as bad as last season, but it may only be marginally better. Any schedule like Boston College’s that has Clemson, Louisville and Florida State is going to be a load. Then you head on the road to play NC State and Virginia Tech and that could be 5 losses right there.

In a conference that has several high powered offense, Boston College could easily struggle keeping up – no matter how good they are on defense.
