What a win for Virginia Tech football over Notre Dame.
It was one of these games where you were thinking to yourself, “Are the Hokies still having a hangover from the Georgia Tech game last week?”
Not the start Virginia Tech needed. Looks like they still have GT loss hangover.

Quarterback, Jerod Evans, had two turnovers, including an interception and a fumble (and three other fumbles that did not lead to turnovers). Many Hokies were thinking is this deja vu all over again.
But the Hokies would’t be denied.
Something happened in this game that showed me that Justin Fuente, usually someone who is very calm and keeps his emotions in check, was clearly furious with a referee’s call for illegal procedure on his Hokies offense (when it was clearly a false start on the Notre Dame defense) and it was a turning point in this game. This happened:

And it fired this Hokies team up – because Fuente was standing up for his players – in a big way.
That was the equivalent of a BBall coach taking a T to get the team motivated.

And the Hokies rallied from margins of 17-0 and 24-7 to win this game!
This is #NotreDame‘s worst team since 2007, but rallying from 17-0 and 24-7 down on road is a big deal. #Hokies win 34-31.

Also, Notre Dame won’t be bowling this year (!!!).
Notre Dame is 4-7 and will not be headed to a bowl game.

In past years, the Hokies would have panicked when down 17-0. This team did not – and that’s largely due to the presence of Justin Fuente (because either Fuente or Louisville’s Bobby Petrino) will be the ACC football coach of the year.
