Will Gardner Will Start At Quarterback For Louisville Against NC State

For the first time in almost exactly a month, Will Gardner will be Louisville's starting quarterback when the Cardinals take the field on Saturday afternoon against North Carolina State.

Offensive coordinator Garrick McGee made the announcement when meeting with members of the media following practice on Tuesday. McGee added that there will be one package in place for true freshman Reggie Bonnafon, but that Gardner will get almost all of the snaps against the Wolfpack.

Gardner started U of L's first four games of the season, but injured his left knee in the second half of Louisville's win at Florida International on Sept. 20. That left the job to Bonnafon, who has started in each of the Cardinals' three games since. Gardner made his first appearance since his injury on Saturday, when he entered the game at Clemson in the 3rd quarter and nearly led the Cardinals to a come-from-behind victory. He finished 10-of-16 through the air for 150 yards and one touchdown.

After talking about it so much during the sumer, it appears we've finally arrived at the famous Stefan LeFors/Brian Brohm 2004 rotation that so many people thought we'd see this season.

If ever there was a time for Will Gardner to step up and play hero, this would be it.
