UNC Snags Second 2014 Commit

So a few weeks back Roy Williams was toast. He couldn't coach. He couldn't recruit. There were people expressing rampant stupidity in the form of saying Williams should retire and UNC needed Brad Stevens or Shaka Smart or whoever the flavor of the month was.

Roy Williams has a message for all of those people: How do you like me now?

On the heels of UNC improving to 21-8 and 11-5 in ACC play continuing the impressive late season turnaround, UNC got its second commitment of the 2014 recruiting class with Spring, TX small forward Justin Jackson. The 6-6, 175 lb junior joins PG Joel Berry in what is shaping up to be a nice class. Scout.com has Jackson rated as a five star recruit and the #2 small forward in the class. The current overall rankings from Scout has Jackson 10th while Berry, who just led his high school team to a state title, is ranked 14th. Jackson's commitment comes 24 hours after he finished his official visit in Chapel Hill where he spent two days with the team and took in the win over FSU.

One interesting tidbit is Jackson(like my own kids) is homeschooled. SI.com;s Rob Dauster featured Jackson in a piece last summer focusing on the homeschooling aspects plus his work ethic. Jackson is said to be an outstanding student and fits the mold of player Williams looks for both on and off the court.

If you are keeping score at home, here is the potential roster for the 2014-15 season.

Seniors*

Desmond Hubert
Jackson Simmons
Luke Davis

Juniors

Marcus Paige
Brice Johnson
J.P. Tokoto
Joel James

Sophomores

Freshmen(so far)

*James Michael McAdoo and P.J. Hairston will likely not stay until their senior seasons.
