UNC recruiting: Tar Heels picking up momentum for Simi Shittu?

The Tar Heels appear to be the trending pick for class of 2018 power forward Simi Shittu.

Five-star recruit Simi Shittu is still a serious target on the North Carolina Tar Heels recruiting board.

They hope to add Shittu as well as Nassir Little to a class that already features Coby White and Rechon Black.

Earlier in the day we wrote on the Tar Heels trending for Little and now the same appears to be happening for Shittu.

The 6-foot-8 power forward just cancelled his official visit to Arizona according to Zag’s Blog and that’s really good news for UNC.

With the cancellation of the visit to Arizona, that leaves Shittu with just two official visits scheduled as of now.

He will take a trip to Vanderbilt this weekend and then an official visit to North Carolina on November 10.

Arizona assistant Book Richardson was one of the four Division-I coaches to be arrested last week as part of a bribery and corruption case. The arrest has had an impact on Arizona right away as Little already took the Wildcats out of his recruitment.

That same thing likely just happened with Shittu.

The No. 1 player in Vermont has no plans to commit to a school right away and told Adam Zagoria that he will take his official visits and then “see from there.”

If UNC and Vanderbilt remain the only two schools that get an official visit for Shittu, that’s certainly good news for the Tar Heels as they’d have to be considered the favorites in that situation.

UNC already has recruits Coby White and Rechon Black signed to their 2018 class and are looking to add at least one other big recruit.
