Five-star shooting guard will be in Chapel Hill this weekend.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks on the recruiting trail for the North Carolina men’s basketball program. And by the looks of it, things don’t appear to be slowing down any.

Two weekends ago, the Tar Heels hosted Mark Williams, a 6-foot-11, 195-pound power forward from the class of 2020. And just this past weekend, class of 2018 big man Darius Days was in Chapel Hill to check in on the Tar Heels. North Carolina is a finalist for Days, while Williams likely has a long way to go in the recruiting process.

Perhaps the most important visit yet, though, is that of five-star prospect Romeo Langford. He’ll be in Chapel Hill on Friday to begin his official visit with the Tar Heels.

It’s the third of Langford’s official visits after making trips to UCLA and Vanderbilt in September. He also plans to visit Indiana and Kansas in the month of October.

Langford’s ability to move with or without the ball, attack the paint and hit shots from the perimeter make him a valuable asset to each of the aforementioned teams.

At 6-foot-5 and 190-pounds, he has good size for his position and should match up very well with opposing guards at the collegiate level. His strength and athleticism should allow him to compete against bigger opponents, if necessary.

He averaged 28.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and more than two blocks per game in leading New Albany to a 25-4 record and an appearance in the regional final.

Langford is the No. 5 prospect in the class of 2018 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 1 shooting guard in his class and the top player in the state of Indiana.

Louisville, at one point, seemed to have the upper hand in Langford’s recruitment. Now that the Cardinals have been dropped from his list, amid the laundry list of allegations the school is facing, Indiana appears to have taken the lead over schools like Kansas and North Carolina.

Langford plans to cut his list to three teams in November, inching closer to a decision that we’ll assume doesn’t take place until the spring.
