UNC will visit Matthew Hurt next week and will welcome him in October for an unofficial visit.
Matthew Hurt is one of the best players in the 2019 class and he’s been all over the North Carolina Tar Heels radar.
The small forward has drawn interest from major programs including UNC, Duke, Kansas and Kentucky and is ready to take some unofficial visits.
According to Evan Daniels of Scout, Hurt has set unofficial visits to Duke, UNC, Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana in the coming weeks.
Hurt’s first round of unofficial visits will be to Kentucky, Louisville and Indiana at the end of September and going into October.
The top five player will then hit Tobacco Road in October, visiting Duke on the 20th for Countdown to Craziness and then to Chapel Hill on the 21st.
In addition to these visits, Daniels is reporting that multiple schools will be making visits to see Hurt in the coming week.
Here’s what Daniels wrote on UNC head coach Roy Williams and Hubert Davis making a trip to Michigan:
A pair of assistants from Duke are expected in on Wednesday, while Roy Williams will visit Hurt at Rochester (Minn.) John Marsall next Monday.
Hurt holds offers from the schools mentioned above plus Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Virginia, Minnesota and UCLA.
It’s still early in his recruiting process, but the small forward has impressed recently.
He participated in the 2017 Chicago Classic in August and the 17-year-old put on a show at the regional qualifying event.
The Tar Heels currently have plenty of offers out in the 2019 class including forwards Wendell Moore, Armando Bacot, James Wiseman and Vernon Carey.
UNC has one commitment in the class, picking it up from Ohio point guard Jeremiah Francis back in August.
If Williams can land a recruit like Hurt at the forward position, it would be a big boost in the class.
