UNC Basketball: First look at summer practices for Tar Heels

UNC shares highlights from one of their summer practices giving us our first look at the team.

It’s still the summer and offseason for both the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball and football programs.

The football program will being training camp in early August and then practice through the month to prepare for the September 2 matchup against Cal to open the season. UNC has already made its rounds for the ACC Kickoff, speaking to the media about the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, the basketball program is still weeks away from actual practice and then games in November.

But that doesn’t mean the hard work isn’t being put in.

UNC basketball has hosted conditioning sessions for the 2017-18 team, an annual thing for the program. They are allowed four practices during the Summer before they being training camp.

On Monday, they shared a clip of one of the practices they are allowed during the Summer before training camp.

The video gives fans their first look at the 2017 freshman class and Pitt graduate transfer Cam Johnson. It also shows us members of the 2016-17 team that won the national championship back in April.

The Tar Heels will open their national championship defense against Northern Iowa on November 10 in the Dean Dome. They released their full non-conference schedule last week including games against Stanford, Tennessee, Ohio State and the Phil Knight Invitational.

On Monday, UNC officially announced its roster for the 2017-18 campaign including a few number changes from last season.
