Fan pays $11,000 for North Carolina basketball experience package.

How much money would you pay to meet your favorite team’s head coach? What would it be worth to you to tour the facilities where legendary players practiced basketball, ate their meals and game-planned for future opponents?

For one fan it was worth over $11,000.

On Wednesday evening, the “Coach Roy Williams – University of North Carolina Basketball Experience” package sold on Ebay for $11,300 after being on the market for seven days.

And what exactly does $11,300 buy you?

According to the item’s description on Ebay, the fan who purchased the package will get to meet North Carolina head coach Roy Williams, attend the Tar Heels’ game against Michigan in the ACC-Big 10 Challenge, attend team shoot-around before the game, tour the stadium and team facilities, VIP parking pass and a UNC gift pack filled with team gear.

The starting price for the coveted item was just $0.99 when it was introduced on July 5th, and had an opening bid of $100. After one week and thirty-five bids later, the cost of the item soared to over $11,000.

Nine bidders were involved in the auction and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

The V Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer. The V Foundation seeks to make a difference by generating broad-based support for cancer research and by creating an urgent awareness among all Americans of the importance of the war against cancer. The V Foundation preforms these dual roles through advocacy, education, fundraising and philanthropy.
