UNC has announced ten football players have enrolled for the spring semester and will participate in spring practice. Most of the major position groups are represented as well as several solid recruits on the defensive side of the ball. Among them are DE Jalen Dalton, CB J.K. Britt, LB Andrew Smith. OL William Sweet  and Mason Veal have also enrolled. Obviously these are big positions of need for UNC and getting these players on campus early possibly gets them closer to contributing right away.

One name not in the announcement is Mike Hughes who committed to UNC in late December and was set to enroll early. He apparently has not and since he hasn't UNC cannot comment on the reason.

Here is the full press release from UNC introducing the ten newest Tar Heels.

North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora announced the enrollment of 10 student-athletes to campus on Wednesday, the first day of classes in Chapel Hill.  Nine of the 10 graduated early from high school, including defensive back J.K. Britt, defensive lineman Jalen Dalton, wide receiver Juval Mollette, quarterback Anthony Ratliff, linebacker Andre Smith, offensive lineman William Sweet, tight end Carl Tucker, offensive lineman Mason Veal and running back Ty’Son Williams. Deep snapper Cody Crafford transferred to UNC from Penn State.

“We’re excited to welcome these students to campus and look forward to having them in classes and around our team and coaches,” said head coach Larry Fedora.  “Enrolling early in January will allow them to get ahead on their school work and begin early preparation for the 2015 season.  We believe these players have the ability to help our team succeed in the years ahead while earning a degree from one of the nation’s top academic institutions.”
