Tyler Roberson May Start Against Georgia Tech

Jim Boeheim tells ESPN CNY that the freshman big man might get the start if Jerami Grant can't go.

Remember how Jim Boeheim seemed unwilling to play Tyler Roberson, even in garbage time minutes, unless he absolutely had to?

Imagine how he feels about the fact that he may have to start the true freshman tonight against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets if Jerami Grant isn't ready to play...

You and I both know that a Jim Boeheim Starting Lineup is not the usual starting lineup. It's more important to Boeheim that a "sixth starter" provide that spark off the bench than who the starting five are. Hence, Roberson starting over the more "obvious" choice of Gbinije.

Syracuse hasn't really gotten much slack for its injury and depth situation so far. Maybe this opens some eyes. Maybe it opens up even more if Roberson does well and the Orange win.

For his part, Roberson tells Donna Ditota that he's ready to go...

"I've practiced hard these past couple days," Roberson said Monday afternoon. "I think I'm ready. When I get in there, I just gotta play hard."

"I'm confident," he said. "I'm ready to play."
