Today's second round matchup features the 1 seed Duke Blue Devils 1991-92 against the 9 seed Duke Blue Devils 2009-10.

Duke 91-92 leads the series 1-0

Notes: Christian Laettner finished with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds and Duke 91-92 held Duke 09-10 to just 28% shooting from the floor in the game one win.  Laettner made a near perfect 7 of 8 attempted shots, while Bobby Hurley and Grant Hill added 9 points a piece.  Duke 09-10 was led by 17 points from Nolan Smith, but it was the shooting woes that hurt.  Jon Scheyer was just 1-14 from the floor, while being hounded by Grant Hill or Thomas Hill all game long.

The series is tied 1-1

Notes: Jon Scheyer bounced back in game two to make 7-14 shots and score 19 points and dish out 5 assists to help Duke 09-10 even the series at one.  Kyle Singler (16 pts, 5 rebs) and Nolan Smith (11 pts) added double-figures as well in the win.  Brian Zoubek played a "large" part on the boards as he grabbed 16 rebounds, 6 of which were on the offensive glass.  Zoubek's contribution helped Duke 09-10 to a 39-28 rebounding advantage. Grant Hill led Duke 91-92 with 17 points and 6 rebounds on 8-11 shooting, while Christian Laettner added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the game two loss.

Duke 91-92 leads the series 2-1

Notes: Christian Laettner scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and made 6-7 shots and 8-10 from the free throw line and pushed Duke 91-92 to the 2-1 series lead.  Thomas Hill (14 pts), Bobby Hurley (14 pts), and Brian Davis (12 pts) each added double-figures in the win.  Duke 09-10 was led by 27 points a piece from Kyle Singler and Jon Scheyer.  Once again poor shooting hurt Duke 09-10 as the Blue Devils made just 31% from the floor in the loss.

The series is tied 2-2

Notes: Nolan Smith scored 18 points including a 3 in the final seconds of the game to push Duke 09-10 to the win and keep their hopes alive in the series.  Kyle Singler added 16 points and 6 rebounds and Jon Scheyer scored 13 points in the win.  Christian Laettner did all he could to end the series in game four, scoring 27 points on 9-14 shooting and made all 3 3-point attempts he took.  Laettner was clutch down the stretch answering every basket Duke 09-10 made.

Duke 91-92 wins the series 3-2

Notes: Christian Laettner scored 28 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and simply wouldn't let his Duke 91-92 squad lose.  Laettner made 8-14 shots and 10-12 from the charity stripe in the series deciding win.  Once again Duke 91-92's suffocating defense held Duke 09-10 to just 33% shooting from the floor.  No Duke 09-10 played scored more than 12 points as Nolan Smith and Lance Thomas both scored a dozen points.  Nolan Smith, Jon Scheyer, and Kyle Singler combined to go 10-35 from the floor in the loss.  The #1 seed Duke 1991-92 team will move on to the final 4 to face the winner of #12 UNC 1980-81 against #13 Duke 1998-99.
