A sad ending for the one-time Syracuse starting quarterback.
Former Syracuse Orange quarterback Terrel Hunt's collegiate career is over. As he confirmed with the Daily Orange's Sam Blum, the NCAA has denied his appeal for a sixth year.
Hunt tore his Achilles in the opener against Rhode Island in 2015 -- just 11 months after missing the remainder of the 2014 season for a fractured fibula. His case to the NCAA was that due to a redshirt, and those two injuries, he'd really only had one year to play out of his four years of eligibility.
Back in December, he was very open about his desire to get a sixth season, and even solicited assistance from ESPN's Jay Bilas on the matter. He sent the NCAA a lengthy letter on the matter that month as well. Blum also provided a very in-depth look at his struggles with injuries and this entire process in the D.O. in January.
While Hunt's Orange carer has sadly come to a close, it doesn't mean he failed while playing here. He leaves with an 8-7 record, 2,615 passing yards, 794 rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns. His passing yards rank 10th all-time at SU -- quite the feat considering the offenses he played in and the short time he started. He also won the 2013 Texas Bowl MVP award, and carried the team on his back in the closing weeks of that season.
