Parris will have surgery on Wednesday.

Josh Parris came into the 2014 Syracuse football season with the expectations of being the No. 1 tight end threat. His chance to do that might be over before it even begins. Syracuse announced Tuesday that Parris has suffered a dreaded LBI that will require surgery.

Josh Parris sustained a lower body injury which will require surgery. The surgery, which will be performed by Dr. Todd Battaglia, is scheduled August 20. Parris will be evaluated throughout the rehabilitation process and his status will be determined in the coming weeks.

Parris played in every game for Syracuse last year and most-memorably caught two touchdowns in the bowl-clinching win over Boston College.

Kendall Moore and Tyler Provo, you're up. This might also be a part of the reason Jamal Custis has been seeing increased reps at the tight end spot.

Is his season over? Will he be back in a couple weeks? By November? We'll have to wait and see what Coach Shafer has to say.

Damn.

UPDATE (7:45 p.m. ET): Shafer seems "hopeful" Parris is back soon, which sounds positive, even if it doesn't mean much.
