Syracuse stays at #2 for seventh straight week

Nothing changes in the polls, as Syracuse remains second behind Arizona.

This week's arbitrary rankings by coaches and media have arrived, and Syracuse remains second in both the AP and USA Today polls, respectively. Arizona keeps winning, so there's little shock to see the Orange behind them. Yes, we picked up a pretty nice win on Saturday. But that's not enough to rattle the polls. Oh well...

The AP Voter(s) You Arbitrarily Love This Week: Mark Berman (Roanoke Times), Rick Bozich (WDRB-TV, Louisville), and Chuck McGill (Charleston WV Daily Mail) kept Syracuse at No. 1 for yet another week, while Jon Wilner (San Jose Mercury News) moved SU back up the top spot after a one-week move down to second.

The AP Voter(s) You Arbitrarily Hate This Week: You might get a little perturbed at Mark McCarter (AL.com) for moving SU down from the top spot. But you'll be much angrier at Cormac Gordon (Staten Island Advance) and Jason Franchuk (Provo Daily Herald) for slotting SU all the way down at No. 4. Interesting note on Franchuk, as pointed out by Sean: He covers BYU (which lost to Wichita State) and is from Kansas. He voted Wichita above us. Sensing some bias here?

Also, Ron Morris, you were NOT the low voter this week, though you did still have the Orange at third (one of just three voters to have them below No. 2).

Curious where the rest of the ACC teams were slotted in this week's polls? Duke got themselves back into the top 20, now sitting at No. 18 in the AP Poll and Coaches Poll. Pittsburgh's loss to Syracuse jumped them up two spots in both polls to 20th and 19th, respectively. (But SU doesn't move up? SURE!) Virginia is the only other ACC team receiving votes (only in the AP).

If you're interested in previous Syracuse opponents: Baylor had a rough week, dropping all the way to No. 24/23. Villanova, however, managed to leap over Wichita State in the AP Poll, and now sits at fourth overall (still fifth in the USA Today Poll). Cal's on the outside looking in on both.

So what do you think? Happy we've turned some voters around? Pissed we lost a first-place vote? Weigh in below.
