Syracuse Offers George Muresan Preferred Walk-On Spot

Jim Boeheim offered George Muresan to become a preferred walk-on, he is the son of former NBA legend Gheorghe Muresan.

Gheorghe Muresan was a 7-foot 7 center who played for the Washington Bullets and New Jersey Nets (when he wasn't in movies). His son, George, is a 6-foot-9 starting forward for powerhouse St. Andrew's High School in Washington D.C. The Syracuse Orange have apparently noticed more than just the familial connection.

The Orange could use another big man in the class of 2016 and since Muresan would be a preferred walk-on, he wouldnt take up a scholarship (though he would have the chance to earn one). The Orange already have commits from Matthew Moyer and Tyus Battle for 2016 and are heavily recruiting Taurean Thompson.

Muresan and his father visited SU on Saturday and he got the full campus tour.

"I definitely had fun," George Muresan, 17, said. "I got to see the football game and the practice facility and I really liked it. I'd never seen anything like that before."

Muresan is an active player who contributes to his team in all different ways. He averaged 5.8 points per game his junior year, and was a key player on one of the top teams in the DMV area. While Mursan can post up like his father, he also has great range that goes out to the 3-point line. This big man legacy is a perfect fit for the 2-3 zone as his lengthy frame allows for him to challenge shots and get in the passing lane.
