Syracuse Loses two first place votes, stays at #2

Nothing changes in the polls, as Syracuse remains second behind Arizona.

This week's arbitrary rankings by coaches and media have arrived, and Syracuse remains second in both the AP and USA Today polls, respectively. Arizona keeps winning, so there's little shock to see the Orange behind them. We've covered this quite a bit already today, but might as well talk about it again, right? Especially when SU inexplicably loses two more first-place votes (that's a net loss of three in the past several weeks, despite winning every game in that stretch).

The AP Voter(s) You Arbitrarily Love This Week: Chuck McGill (Charleston WV Daily Mail) and Rick Bozich (WDRB-TV) stood by Syracuse, keeping them at No. 1. Consider your contracts honor'd, men.

The AP Voter(s) You Arbitrarily Hate This Week: Mark Berman (Roanoke Times) and Jon Wilner (San Jose Mercury News) each moved Syracuse down a spot this week. Every other voter now has Syracuse at second (yes, even Ron Morris), except Jason Franchuck (Provo Daily Herald). As we covered last week, he writes about BYU (lost to Wichita State), is from Kansas and voted Wichita above us.

As Jared mentioned in his piece earlier today, it doesn't much matter where we sit right now. Arizona has a slightly better resume and I can't fault anyone for listing them above us. But the question remains: what has Syracuse done to warrant moving us down? If the voters believe teams should move up according to wins and down according to losses, what's the impetus for Syracuse's drop? Just asking for consistency, more than anything else here.

For those curious where the rest of the ACC teams were slotted in this week's polls, a quick rundown for you: Duke is 17th in the AP Poll and 16th in the Coaches Poll. Pitt's directly behind them, sitting at No. 18 in the AP and 17th in the Coahes. Virginia also picks up some votes.

So what do you think? Pleased overall? Annoyed with voters moving SU down despite remaining undefeated? Weigh in below.
