SU comes home chasing a fifth win
Following a very tough loss to Florida State, the Syracuse Orange sit below .500. Lucky for SU, they get to come home to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
According to early odds, Syracuse is a 3.5-point favorite for Saturday — though that line already shrank to two points by Sunday night.
Wake’s quarterback John Wolford threw for 331 yards in their 48-37 loss to Notre Dame and his arm has seemingly come alive in recent weeks. The Deacs sit at 5-4 (2-3 in the ACC) and have really looked strong each week.
Last year these two teams played in hurricane conditions, which played a part in the Orange’s 28-9 loss. In the Carrier Dome, things will be very different, and the Orange offense should put up much better numbers (assuming everyone’s healthy).
Syracuse is 6-1-1 against the spread this year, with six straight victories. This game against Wake Forest is the first time SU has been favored since the Pitt contest (which the Orange won). They’ve only been favored four times all season, including MTSU, CMU and Pitt, plus this one.
Since arriving in the ACC, Syracuse is 3-1 against the Demon Deacons. All-time, the Orange are 4-2 vs. Wake Forest — and all of those results have occurred since 2006.
