The Syracuse offense shined again in its second exhibition game, but the defense fueled the offense allowing the Orange to score 96 points on 48.3 percent shooting from outside.

The Florida Southern Moccasins came to town to take on the Syracuse Orange under first year head coach Mike Donnelly. Florida Southern never stood a chance as Syracuse got out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back, winning 96-54. D-II championship belt time!

Kaleb Joseph provided an immediate spark off the bench, hitting back-to-back threes in his first few minutes of action. He'd add a steal that lead to a layup on the other end and another three, shooting a perfect 4-4 in the first half. Blood Shooter gonna blood shoot.

Trevor Cooney got involved in the three point barrage in the second half by knocking down two quick ones from range. He finished the night with 15 points. Syracuse had six different players connect from the outside and shot a collective 14-29 from downtown. Michael Gbinije, Cooney, Tyler Roberson, Malachi Richardson, Joseph and Tyler Lydon all scored in double-figures.

The Syracuse defense held Florida Southern to 31 percent shooting. The Moccasins also were forced into 28 turnovers. Syracuse will have to do a better job rebounding the ball as Florida Southern out-rebounded the Orange by 3.

Jim Boeheim dropped this nugget in the post-game presser.

Syracuse opens up the regular season this Friday against Lehigh. This Lehigh team won't be as talented as the 2012 team that upset Duke in first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 16-14 season.
