Ranking the 5 best Safeties in the ACC for 2020

Let's take a look at the top safeties in ACC Football

1) Paris Ford, Pittsburgh

Let’s be honest, sometimes we forget a little bit about Pittsburgh, but so far in a our player rankings which school has the most – best player at their position in the ACC? Clemson has QB Trevor Lawrence and RB Travis Etienne, and now Pittsburgh has the conference’s best offensive lineman in Jimmy Morrissey and now they have the conference’s best safety in pre-season All-American Paris Ford.

Last season Ford had 97 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and 3 interceptions. ProFootballNetwork has Ford as the number 2 draftable safety in the country. In fact, the ACC has 3 of the top 7 safeties on that list.

2) Andre Cisco, Syracuse

Syracuse safety Andre Cisco returns as the FBS active leader in interceptions with 12. Cisco has been one of the countrys’ most outstanding safeties the last 2 years. His defensive ball skills are considered some of the best in college football.

He’s projected as round 2 NFL pick, with the possibility to move into the 1st round.

3) Hamsah Nasirildeen, Florida State

Hamsah Nasirildeen drew comparisons to Clemson’s elite defensive player Isaiah Simmons in the aforementioned ProFootballNetwork safety article. That’s high praise.

Nasirildeen had 101 tackles last year for the Seminoles, and is one of the most versatile defensive players in the conference. He’s another ACC safety that projects as a round 2 NFL pick.

4) Joey Blount, Virginia

Joey Blount came to Virginia as a bit of unheralded recruit, and has turned into one of the ACC’s best safeties. The productive Blount had 95 tackles last season with three interceptions.

He returns as the highest graded run-stopper for a safety in the ACC.

5) Nasir Greer, Wake Forest

Wake Forest’s Nasir Greer is a fast rising safety. The junior is coming off an Honorable Mention All-ACC 2019, and has been named to several pre-season All-ACC teams just behind the top 3 on this list.

He had 65 tackles last season, and was one of the ACC leaders in forcing fumbles.
