Game Recap

Even if it didn't matter, that hurt.

Meaningful or not, the Syracuse Orange went on the road on Saturday and suffered its third loss in four games, falling 83-77 to the Pittsburgh Panthers.

The loss came three days after Syracuse self-imposed a 2015 postseason ban in response to the NCAA's investigation into the basketball program. But, even in a loss, the Orange didn't play like a team whose season had been lost. SU led for most of the game, even jumping out to a double-digit lead in the first half, but couldn't quite finish -- something that has become somewhat of a theme this season.

As per usual, Rakeem Christmas filled up the stat sheet for Syracuse. The center had 23 points, 11 rebounds, and six blocks. Michael Gbinije added 23 points of his own to go along with four rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

Five different Panthers scored in double figures, led by Jamel Artis and Sheldon Jeter. The forwards scored 20 and 18 points, respectively.

Syracuse turned the ball over 14 times (to Pitt's 10 turnovers) and lost the rebounding battle, 35-33.

The Orange next travel to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts for a meeting with the Boston College Eagles on Wednesday. Tipoff from the Silvio Conte Forum is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
