Pitt guard/forward Durand Johnson is ready to make his comeback to Pitt's basketball program this season. After missing most of last year with a knee-injury, Johnson is slated to return by the beginning of this season.

Johnson's return is particularly good news for the Panthers in light of Cameron Wright's recent injury, expected to sideline him for approximately ten weeks.

ESPN.com recently recognized his value in naming him one of college basketball's top reserves.

There have been many calls for Johnson to start and while that could happen at some point, my preference has always been to keep him as a reserve. He's arguably the player that creates the biggest spark off the bench and that is extremely valuable when the team's offense has trouble scoring. I've written this seemingly a million times, but just as he is capable of missing a ton of shots, he's equally capable of getting hot and keeping the team in games.
