On Sunday, Syracuse Orange basketball target Omer Yurtseven scored 91 points in a Turkish U-18 game and visions of a truly dominant center in the middle of the 2-3 zone danced in our heads. Instead, we'll be seeing the seven-footer try to break down the zone next year when he plays for the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

Scout's Evan Daniels says that Yurtseven has given his verbal pledge to Mark Gottfried.

"The offered me the perfect fit for education and other wise," Yurtseven said.

Yurtseven, who is widely considered by many as a potential lottery pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, selected N.C. State over Syracuse, Utah and a significant professional contract to stay in Turkey and play for Fenerbahçe.

Yurtseven visited Syracuse last week.

One wonders if Yurtseven saw the crowded SU backline of Paschal Chukwu and Dajuan Coleman and figured there wouldn't be enough room for him to shine. Or maybe that had nothing to do with it. Who knows.

Yurtseven now gives NC State two five-star prospects in their 2016 class, so keep an eye on them in the upcoming season.
