This basketball season has been hard for the entire NCAA. It has been a series of starts and stops. College basketball is doing its best to get games in. But it has become a disjointed mess. There has been no flow and it has been difficult to figure out if your favorite team is playing or not. Numerous games have been canceled, postponed, and rescheduled. Teams have had to deal with a lot of these issues.
Which brings us to NC State. NC State had to cancel games against William and Mary due to positive tests. NC State also lost games UConn and Michigan because of positive tests within the program.
It was reported that someone in the “travel party,” tested positive which caused the cancellation. They had another game against Louisville canceled because of positive tests within the Louisville program (I am unsure if that game was rescheduled).
Now they have had to cancel games with Georgia Tech and Virginia. It was reported that five “Tier 1” people within the program tested positive to cause this second round of cancellations. Now, I do not know what a tier-one person within the program is, but it doesn’t sound good.
Kevin Keatts has come out and said that NC State has full intentions of playing Saturday against UNC. However, with 5 people already quarantining, who knows if that is going to happen.
NC State has had 6 games either postponed or canceled altogether. 3 of those games are conference games, which will affect where NC State ends up in the standings. Meaning who knows where they get seeded for the ACC tournament. We are running out of time to reschedule those games that have been postponed. It is hard to see NC State getting all of those 3 games in before the ACC tournament.
As a fan, it has been hard to get into this season. Having lost 6 games so far and who knows if any more. I will say, it has been nice to not be emotionally involved in a game on a weekend. But, I don’t want to do it again….
