Syracuse played a tough contest throughout and once again fell down the final stretch.
It wasn't a good day for the ACC Network broadcasters, and it certainly wasn't it for the Syracuse Orange. Mike Hopkins' club took on the 13th ranked Miami Hurricanes in Coral Gables and lost 64-51.
Frank Howard was unavailable today due to illness. Malachi Richardson found his shooting stroke by going 3-3 from long range in the first half. When Miami took the lead, Syracuse responded with a 15-0 run to take a 20-9 lead. The two teams then exchanged buckets and Syracuse would take a 25-17 lead into the half.
Michael Gbinije struggled but had the play of the game when he drove the middle of the lane and threw a Dion Waiters like jam.
Miami fought back to take the lead early in the second half.
Time and again it was Richardson who kept Syracuse afloat. He made plays reminiscent of how he started the season; He crossed his defender so bad that he cleared five feet of space on one move. On his fifth three he pulled up as far beyond the three point arc as the space between he and his defender when he crossed him and buried it. He finished with 20 points on 5-6 shooting from three while pulling in six rebounds.
Ultimately the story in today's contest was the same as Wednesday night's. Syracuse played a close game throughout the contest and fell down the stretch with poor execution. Sheldon McClellan and Ja'Quan Newton proved to be too much as Miami defeated Syracuse 64-51.
Syracuse drops to 10-5 overall and 0-2 in the ACC. So now it's time to deflect anger towards the awful announcing. Dijon Coleman, Bobby Coleman, DaJuan Coleman. Same thing.
