Louisville big man Mangok Mathiang will have some scar tissue cleaned out of his foot and will be shut down from workouts for the next six weeks or so, coach Rick Pitino said Wednesday.

U of L is being "conservative" with Mathiang and his foot, Pitino said, after the team's expected starting center re-aggravated his healing broken foot this spring. Mathiang, a 6-foot-10 redshirt senior who is a team captain, missed the final two-thirds of the 2015-16 season after fracturing the fifth metatarsal in his left foot during Louisville's Dec. 19 win over Western Kentucky.

Mathiang and junior point guard Quentin Snider were named as co-captains for the 2015-17 season by Pitino on Tuesday.

Here's hoping Mangok is 100% by the time things start really revving up in the late summer.
