Louisville Football is the ACC's model of consistently

Quick, which ACC Football program has won at least 9 games every season since 2023? Hint, it’s not Clemson, they won’t win more than 8 this year. It’s not Miami; they won 7 games in 2023. Florida State? NC State? SMU – well, they’ve only been in the ACC two years. Anybody else? Nope.

We’re not taking anything away from Miami. They still have a chance to win the national title, but we’re talking about consistency over the last three years. After beating Toledo 27-22 in the Boca Raton Bowl, Louisville won its 9th game of the season.

Was it a thing of beauty? No, but a win is a win, especially in the bowl season.

It also underscores something else at Louisville. The floor at Louisville under Jeff Brohm is 9 wins. Going back to his Purdue days, Brohm hasn’t coached a team to fewer than 8 wins since 2020. Even in a year where Louisville had some letdowns, like taking a 7-1 start and losing 3 games in a row to unranked teams, Brohm still found a way to hit that 9-win threshold.

The Cardinals hammered rival Kentucky 41-0, then followed things up with a bowl win.

How many ACC programs would be happy to average 9.3 wins a season? Um, pretty much all of them save maybe Clemson and the current trajectory version of Miami. This includes victories over a top 5 Miami team in 2025, a top 15 Clemson team in 2024, and a top 10 Notre Dame team in 2023.

Now, does Jeff Brohm gets over the hump and into playoff contention is the open question. I feel, though, it’s only a matter of time. You don’t keep winning like that and not break through eventually. Certainly not when Duke can win an ACC Title.

There are rumors of Brohm flirting with Michigan, or maybe it’s the other way around, but I think Brohm remains loyal to his alma mater, especially when he’s this close to doing something truly special at Louisville.
