Last year, Pitt running back James Conner announced he was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Now less than six months later, Conner has, well, let's just say better news than that original cancer diagnosis.

As  you can imagine, the world is celebrating along with him. In case you didn't notice, his tweet from only a few hours ago has been retweeted nearly 15,000 times and has been favorited more than 25,000 times.

Head coach Pat Narduzzi also responded to the news:

"Over the past six months, James Conner fought cancer the same way he plays football: relentlessly and without surrender. He has inspired and touched so many people in how he has handled this challenge. James is an incredibly special person, and I'm not even thinking about his football ability when I say that. Everyone at Pitt feels blessed to know him and we are tremendously thankful for the wonderful news he received today."

That's unbelievable to hear and it goes without saying, but it goes far beyond wanting to see him back on the football field. Conner met the challenge head on and it's great to see him declared to be cancer free.

The Pitt running back was already expected to play this season and had been working out with the team, participating in drills. Talk about where he fits in and his impact on the field will come, but for now, it's all about celebrating Conner's life in general off the field and just being excited for him to be healthy again.

Congrats, James.
