If you are an ACC football coach and you can’t use the 2013 season to help you in recruiting nothing will. A team in the national game with Florida State. There’s a second ACC team in Clemson in a BCS game. 3 times this year, Gameday was at an ACC stadium. What more could John Swofford want?

How about pretty much leading the country in major college football awards. Actually for the football conference that’s been much maligned in year’s past, it was a rather remarkable haul. Not to mention that the ACC had 2 of the top 4 Heisman vote getters in winner Jameis Winston and 4th place finisher Boston College’s Andre Williams.

Heisman Trophy – Florida State’s Jameis Winston

Walter Camp Award – Florida State’s Jameis Winston

Davey O’Brien – Florida State’s Jameis Winston

Doak Walker – Boston College’s Andre Williams

Bednarik – Pittsburgh’s Aaron Donald

Outland – Pittsburgh’s Aaron Dondal

Lou Groza – Florida State’s Roberto Aguayo

That’s an astonishing 7 out of the 11 biggest college football awards given out this year.

The conference ended up with 9 of the 24 All-Americans on the ESPN All-America list. That’s a 38% of the the All-American team. Maybe you could say well they had 14 teams in the ACC, but so did the SEC.  The USAToday All American team had 13 ACC players.  From that article…

With 13 selections – five from FSU – the ACC has the most representatives of any FBS conference

Individually it was impressive year for ACC Football players.
