Four-star guard Darius Perry commits to Louisville basketball

Louisville has its second commitment from the 2017 class in 4-star point guard Darius Perry, who pledged his allegiance to Rick Pitino on Tuesday. Perry joins forward Malik Williams, who committed to U of L 12 days ago.

A standout at Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler whose game reminds many of former Cardinal Terry Rozier, Perry had scholarship offers from Memphis, Miami, Georgia, Xavier and Florida State, among many others.

"Darius is a very athletic guard who is one of the best on ball defenders in the country," Scout national analyst Brian Snow said. "He can be a streaky shooter who is capable of putting up big numbers on the offensive end when he is on top of his game."

Rated as the No. 48 overall player in the 2017 class by ESPN, Perry fills one of the biggest positions of need that Pitino needed to address in this class. Quentin Snider will graduate following the 2017-18 season, and Penn transfer Tony Hicks -- who is expected to serve at least some time as Snider's backup this season -- only has one season with the Cards.

Here's a little bit of Perry from earlier this summer.

U of L needed this to be a monster class, and they're certainly off to a terrific start.
