Game Recap

Admit it you thought Florida State might have started to slip. From the middle of the 2015 season to the beginning of the 2016, Florida State was a pedestrian 7-5. There were losses to a 3-9 Georgia Tech team. There was an epic 63-20 blowout to Louisville. There was a home loss to North Carolina. Was Florida State starting to show cracks in their armor?

CookWe know the answer the now. Florida State won 7 of their last 8 games. They took Clemson to the final minutes and finished the season wiping out SEC East Champion Florida 31-13, and then beat a Michigan team in the Orange Bowl 33-32 that many considered one of the 4 best in the country.

The word to describe Florida State after losing 5 of 12 games, is resilient. The Noles showed resilience turning their season around when a playoff spot was lost. Friday night against Michigan when it looked like the Noles had collapsed in the 2nd half, the Noles found a way to win the game. Deondre Francois struggled in the 2nd half, but made a picture perfect TD fade pass to give the Noles the go ahead TD. Francois has been as tough as nails all season, and he’s only going to get better and better at the QB position.

Dalvin Cook proved he’s the best RB in the country gashing one of the college football’s great defenses for over 200 yards of total offense. Michigan was the flavor of the month for much of the season, but FSU reminded us why they are still one of the best programs in the country by taking down Michigan and Jim Harbaugh.

I’ve stayed from making sweeping ACC Football statements until after bowl season. We’ll talk about that at some point, but remember when the ACC couldn’t win a BCS game? Times have changed.
