Duke Blue Devils offer scholarship to Cox Mill small forward Wendell Moore.

Concord, North Carolina native Wendell Moore has long been considered a strong North Carolina lean, though Duke has always been right there in the background. Now, the Blue Devils are squarely in the thick of things, officially offering Moore a scholarship on Friday night.

The offer came on the same day that Moore was at the University of North Carolina to attend Late Night with Roy.

The Tar Heels have been after Moore for quite some time, hoping to add the talented wing to a 2019 class that already boasts top-50 point guard Jeremiah Francis.

Moore recently stated that his recruitment was coming to an end, and that a decision was likely to happen in late November or early December.

Moore is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound small forward out of Cox Mill High School. He’s currently the No. 22 prospect in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s a top-10 player at his position and the No. 2 prospect in the state of North Carolina.

He currently holds scholarship offers from nearly a dozen schools including Duke, Florida, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Syracuse and Tennessee.

All signs point to Moore choosing either Duke or North Carolina, but the Tar Heels still appear to have the edge at this point. However, the Blue Devils’ recent offer could definitely have an impact on his decision, and it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve nabbed a recruit from the Tar Heels in the eleventh hour.
