Boeheim Thinks All The Freshmen Are Terrible, Or Some I'm Told

Jim Boeheim told SNY that he doesn't see any college freshman worth tanking over. CUE OUTRAGE!

It's been a while since Boeheim went Boeheim. Well, Boeheim just went Boeheim.

"There’s no player that’s out there on the horizon that’s a Tim Duncan or a LeBron James," the Hall of Fame Syracuse coach told SNY.tv by phone Thursday.

"I’ve seen all these guys play. I think they’re very talented players. They’re not that kind of player. They’re not transcendent players that are gonna make your franchise into a 10-12-15-year winning franchise because you’re there. I don’t see that."

First of all, who the hell knows. That's just Jim's opinion. Sometimes he's right about these kinds of things. Sometimes he's wrong (coughcoughsayingCarmeloisntselfishcoughcough). Whatever.

Here's what I love. Boeheim says that, which is almost certainly true. It's unlikely Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker are going to become LeBron James II. But of course, that means Boeheim is TRASHING them!!! Right? RIGHT?

A bunch of people got their knickers in a bunch, because…well, you have to have a #STRONGTAKE, otherwise you'll have a second to realize that we're all just talking about sports.

Boeheim didn't say these guys aren't talented. In fact, he literally did say that. He just said they're not worth ruining an entire season over. I'd say that's…fair, even if you disagree with him.

What's really fascinating is that, in order to take the other side of the coin, you have to advocate for NBA teams to tank entire seasons (starting in December!). And that's apparently what everything thinks is the right thing to do.

As a Syracuse fan, the only thing that really concerns me is when we play Duke or see Kansas in the tourney, methinks this is gonna be some serious blackboard material...
