Let's take a a look at Pitt Football

Best / Worse Case Record for :

Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | Boston College | Notre Dame | Florida State | Virginia Tech | NC State | Clemson | Syracuse | North Carolina | Wake Forest

ACC 2020 Football Schedule

Pittsburgh always seems to be the ACC team that flies under the radar. All they’ve done under Pat Narduzzi is only finish outside top 3 of the Coastal Division one time in 5 years. Each year they seem produce at least one high quality win – 2016 #3 Clemson, 2017 #2 Miami,  2018 #23 Virginia, and 2019 #15 UCF. 2016 had another win over an at the time unranked Penn State, but a Penn State team that ended up #7 in the country. Pitt kind of reminds you of the Tommy Bowden era Clemson teams – capable of beating or losing to anyone they play, but always dangerous. If you are overlooking Pitt in 2020, you could be making a big mistake.

Will Go 8-3 (5-3) if:
The Panthers can start the season 4-1 or 5-0. Austin Peay, Syracuse, Louisville, Syracuse, and Boston College are Pitt’s opening 5 games, and Pitt needs to take advantage with a fast start to the season. The rushing game was a problem in 2019 ranking 119th in the country. Some improvement there will take pressure off underrated QB Kenny Pickett. The offense line will be anchored by one of the best in the ACC in C Jimmy Morrissey. The defense was solid last year, though talented defensive lineman Jaylen Twyman opted out. The schedule does have Notre Dame and Clemson, and Notre Dame at Pitt in particular could be an upset special.

Will Go 5-6 (4-6) if:
The Hyde version of Pitt shows up. While we’ve talked about how Pitt can play up and beat anyone they face, the opposite is also true. Just last year Pittsburgh suffered home losses to Miami and Boston College teams that ended up with losing records. Pittsburgh could come out after the Florida State game 3-5, or 4-4 before even playing Notre Dame and Clemson. What if the rushing game is still a mess, and the production of Jaylen Twyman can’t be replaced on defense?
