NC State rushing attack leads way in 34-24 win at Wake Forest

NC State vs. Wake Forest: The NC State Wolfpack won a hard-fought game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 34-24. CJ Bailey had an extremely efficient game for the Wolfpack, completing 23-32 passes for 201 yards and 3 touchdowns. Justin Joly caught 2 of those touchdown passes, and Hollywood Smothers was unstoppable on the ground with 24 carries for 163 yards in the win. Robby Ashford played well, finishing with 252 yards on 21-35 passing. The NC State defense turned it on in the 2nd half, holding Wake to 0 points and just 70 yards after the break.

Wake Forest defeats Western Carolina 42-10

In Winston-Salem, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons used a fast start to cruise to a 42-10 win over the Western Carolina Catamounts. Quarterback Robby Ashford got the scoring started with a 41-yard touchdown run for Wake Forest. He would go on to throw for 227 yards and 1 touchdown. Wake Forest's defense helped set the tone early, forcing a safety at the end of the first quarter to take a 21-0 lead. Running Back Demond Claiborne rushed for 3 touchdowns and 193 yards to carry the Demon Deacons on the ground. Wide Receiver Chris Barnes had 6 catches for 149 yards.
