Texas is No. 1, Georgia is No. 2, and after that it's Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri. That's ten of the league's 16 teams, or more than 60 percent of the conference, ranked in the top 25 at the end of September.

It’s already started. Wake Forest beats somebody at or near the top of the ACC, and it’s bad for the league. I have to admit this narrative bothers me. It bothers me because it’s lazy. Duke also gets a heavy dose of this lazy analysis when they beat teams too. It’s teams and wins, not brands.

Wake Forest secured a 30-27 victory over Louisville in a dramatic, back-and-forth battle that came down to the final seconds. Demon Deacons quarterback Gio Lopez threw for 225 yards and a touchdown, finding wide receiver Carlos Hernandez nine times for a massive 194 yards, including an explosive 77-yard score. Louisville countered behind quarterback Lincoln Kienholz, who threw for 324 yards and a touchdown to Jaleel Skinner, while rushing for two more scores to trade the lead. With 18 seconds remaining, Louisville attempted a 57-yard field goal to tie the game, but Wake Forest defensive lineman Dallas Afalava rose to block the kick and secure the win.
