2014-15 Bracketology: Joe Lunardi has Pitt a 4 seed

It's early ... too early.

I know that, but when Joe Lunardi released his first bracket projections for 2014-15, I mean, who am I to say no?

The good news in me hijacking your day to bring your predictions on a season that won't even begin for seven months is that at least he has Pitt doing fairly well.

Lunardi slotted the Pitt basketball team as a No. 4 seed in his initial projections (facing No. 13 Toledo, if you're really into this stuff).

As I wrote earlier, I expect the Panthers to be on par with what they were this year - a good, but not great team. Pitt's young players all get a year older but the team is void of a true star and loses seniors Lamar Patterson and Talib Zanna - they're two best players.

That said, I'm hardly going to scoff at Lunardi's projection - here's why. I said all along that Pitt was underseeded this year and felt they deserved to be closer to a No. 6 or 7 than the last No. 9 seed that they were given. Using that logic, a move up to a No. 4 seed wouldn't require them to do much more than win a big game or two - something they failed to do this year until they knocked off North Carolina in the ACC Tournament.

Lunardi's projection may be a bit high, but also might not be totally out of reach.
