The #15 Virginia Cavaliers traveled across the country and defeated the Cal Golden Bears 31-21. UVA has won five consecutive ACC games for the first time in its school history, and its 8-1 start is the best since 1990. Virginia running back J'Mari Taylor ran the ball 21 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Chandler Morris was 24-36 for 262 yards, with 28 rushing yards. For Cal, quarterback Jared-Keawe Sagapolutele completed 19 of 30 passes for 213 yards.
