UNC's Malik Simmons Suspended

UNC has announced that senior cornerback Malik Simmons has been suspended indefinitely for a "violation of team rules."

What violation you might ask?

According to WRAL, Simmons was arrested on Franklin Street on Wednesday morning. It was Simmons second arrest this year.

Simmons was arrested a 1:46 a.m. Wednesday on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill and charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest. He was released on a $1,000 secured bond and is due in court Tuesday. The arrest report indicated that Simmons, 21, was under the influence at the time of the incident.

The Lehigh Acres, Fla., native was also arrested on May 16 on Orange County and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He is due in court for that arrest on Aug. 3.

The preseason depth chart lists Simmons with Des Lawrence as potential starters at CB opposite M.J. Stewart and Brian Walker.

Simmons appeared in 12 games during the 2014 season registering 34 tackles with a career high seven versus Georgia Tech on October 18th.
