After Mitch Trubisky's third straight game of passing for over 400 yards and with an upset win against then No. 12 Florida State, Trubisky is a national name that should be on the radar of many.

Trubisky sat behind quarterback Marquise Williams the past few years but coming into the season, Head Coach Larry Fedora and the Tar Heel staff believed that Trubisky could not only continue their recent success, but possibly bring new light to their offense.

The story book didn’t start off well against Georgia, as Trubisky finished the night going 24-for-40, 156 yards and zero touchdowns.

He had a bounce back game against Illinois, completing 79 percent of his passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns, but he would continue this upward trend in the next three games.

In the next three games, Tribusky secured three strong wins against James Madison, Pittsburgh, and Florida State, as he has thrown for 1,290 passing yards, going 90-for-111 (81 percent), and 11 touchdowns.

Trubisky is now up to 13 touchdowns and has yet to thrown an interception, as the Heels are off to a 4-1 overall record.  Compare that other top quarterbacks in the ACC, Trubisky is right up there with the best of them.  Deshaun Watson (1,302 yards, 14 passing touchdowns, 7 INT), Lamar Jackson (1,625 yards, 14 passing touchdowns, 4 INT), Jerod Evans (970 passing yards, 13 passing touchdowns, 1 INT), and several others throughout the conference, Trubisky ranks second in passing yards, first in percentage completion, first in yards per attempt, and second in passing touchdowns.

Trubisky certainly has been one of the main reasons for the Tar Heels early 4-1 record, even if the games have been closer than many would like to start the season.

But if he continues this success, Trubisky certainly puts his name near the top of ACC Player of the Year discussion this season, along with a few others that could be up there.
