North Carolina just added a four star quarterback to their recruiting class for 2018. What does that mean for the Tar Heels?

Good News Everybody.

Unlike when Professor Farnsworth would say this to the Planet Express crew, this really is good news.

The North Carolina Tar Heels just landed a major football recruit.

First reported by Inside Carolina, the Tar Heels just received a commit from Tyler Shough, a pocket-passing quarterback from Chandler, Arizona.

Shough, who is rated as a top ten quarterback and an elite 11 prospect, chose the Tar Heels after spending the past two days in Chapel Hill.

He came in Tuesday for a football camp, stayed Wednesday for an unofficial visit, and then committed on Thursday.

Shough picked the Tar Heels over such other squads as Michigan, California, and Florida State.

This is a big get for the Tar Heels who were in need of some quarterback depth after Mitch Trubisky unexpectedly left after just one season as a starter for the Tar Heels.

With many questions at the signal caller position this upcoming season, Shough will be in great shape to compete right away next year for playing time.

Shough does need to add some weight.

The quarterback is listed at 6-foot-5 but only 187 lbs. That’s skinny for anybody, but especially for a player who gets hit a lot.

Of course, Shough will have a year to bulk up and if he graduates early and enrolls in January can really hit the weights in Chapel Hill.

Slough also becomes the sixth Tar Heel commit for the 2018 recruiting class. After a slow start that saw the Tar Heels not get a commit until the middle of March, UNC has now added three players in the past month.

Hopefully, Shough’s commitment is just the start of some other major dominoes falling and UNC’s class continues to grow and shape into the best in the Fedora era.
