Malcolm Brogdon has been out since having foot surgery in early March and his recovery has been a slow one. As such Brogdon will take a medical redshirt for the 2012-13 season.

"Malcolm is an important part of the program's future, so the plan to redshirt him will allow for his foot to fully recover," Bennett said. "He will continue to push hard in his recovery during this season."
Brogdon played in Virginia's first 28 games as a freshman in 2011-12. He averaged 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 39.6 percent (63-159) from the field and 80 percent (40-50) from the free-throw line. Brogdon scored in double figures five times.
