Maryland holds on against UVA, 27-20

Maryland started brightly only to muddle through a weak 2nd and 3rd quarter; but they held on and play well in the 4th quarter for a huge ACC road win.  Maryland is firmly ensconced in sole possession of first place in the ACC standings.

Granted, we are in mid-October but at 4-2, I can actually see my way to an 8-4 record.  It's not as preposterous as it sounds.  The Terps host NC State at home next week for homecoming and if our defense continues to play like this, we'll be in that game until the end.  The Terps travel to BC and the host Georgia Tech in the following two weeks.  Those games are all winnable.  It's hard to imagine that we actually pull that off, but the path is there.

At 7-2, Maryland would be a national story at that point, but crazier things have happened.  Of course a cold dose of reality would loom with Clemson and FSU on the horizon.  The season would end at UNC and again, it's not crazy to think the Terps would have a chance in that game.  So as I said, the path to 8 wins is there.

Now as for the game, Stefon Diggs is awesome.  The defense is stout and Perry Hills is getting better every time out.  The running game is atrocious and that will likely be the thing that keeps us from 8 wins.  But let's not worry about that now.  Let's enjoy a 4-2 record we never thought was possible.
