It’s been a wild 7 days since the announcement of USC and UCLA to the Big 10.
As usual, after major realignment news is released, the true nonsense and misinformation begins.
We somehow have a swimming blog breaking realignment news, that worked twitter into a frenzy.
I’m not even linking it. It’s out there if you want it.
A week later we have to take stock, especially for the ACC.
If you didn’t think the Big 10 wouldn’t respond to the Oklahoma / Texas move at some point, then you don’t know how petty these conferences have become trying to outdo each other. USC has long been rumored to be a target, so it wasn’t a shock.
At the risk of just repeating what’s been said on the blog, we are going to link some of our highlight stories.
- We initially looked at the ACC’s options.
- ACC Commissioner Jim Philips you’re on the Clock
- Where could the Coastal Teams end up
- Where could the Atlantic Teams end up
- Why ESPN may want the ACC to stay together
The bottom line is nobody knows what the future of the ACC is, certainly not a swimming blog or 99.9% of Twitter.
There are reports of a Pac12 / ACC TV agreement in the works. Hey whatever options could generate revenue, I’m for it.
What I do feel comfortable in saying.
Fanbases keep talking about jumping to another conference. Hey, you got to get an invite first. Do you think Washington, Oregon, and Oklahoma State are happy where they are? You need the SEC and Big 10 a lot more than they need you at this point.
The GOR is going to be tough to break. I don’t think the ACC is guaranteed through the 2036 season, but I don’t see any attempts to break it for a while – at least for a few years.
Unless some actual story breaks, I think I’m about realigned out for the time being.
Now we can check out on the topic on the blog, but ACC Commissioner Jim Philips better be working on something.
