The Louisville basketball team dropped 104 points, won by 50, and showed massive improvement from game one of the Chris Mack era to game two.

The officials Tuesday night made it sort of hard to enjoy all that.

A total of 65 fouls were called and a total of 63 free-throws were attempted by Louisville and Southern. Toss in a bizarre “hook and hold” flagrant 1 call on Malik Williams that took approximately half an hour to review, and you have yourself a game that tipped off at 7 p.m. and barely wrapped up before 9:30.

Even so, the evening was an overwhelmingly positive one for the home team.

Louisville played with a level of energy and enthusiasm that it lacked at times in its closer-than-it-should-have-been season-opening win over Nicholls. The Cards shot a scorching 58.2 percent from the field and also out-rebounded a Southern team known for its prowess on the glass by 15.

Jordan Nwora came off the bench once again, but still led four Cardinals in double figures with 20 points. Malik Williams, who also came off the bench, added 17 points, while Darius Perry and Steven Enoch chipped in 13 apiece.
