Game Recap

Five players scored in double figures for the Cardinals.

Against — according to computer numbers — the worst team remaining on its schedule, the Louisville Cardinals responded accordingly Monday night. Despite something of a lazy start, U of L outscored visiting Bryant 51-24 in the second half and rolled to a 102-59 victory.

Most importantly, Louisville is now 2-0 in the Gotham Classic heading into Saturday’s showcase game against Memphis in New York.

Look, Bryant is bad, but even against bad teams you have to do a lot right to score 102 points and win by 43. If nothing else, Quentin Snider and Deng Adel got some added confidence in their outside shots, and a bunch of the young guys on the bench got to play some major minutes. No one took more advantage than Lance Thomas, who posted career-highs of 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Also worth noting: Freshman walk-on Jacob Redding buried a three-pointer and two free-throw attempts. This means that Redding is now the nation’s leader in field goal percentage (100%), three-point field goal percentage (100%), and free-throw percentage (100%). Pretty impressive.

Shoutout to the guys for taking care of business on short rest.
