After a full week without basketball, Louisville fans were rewarded with an entertaining 86-53 drumming of Eastern Michigan Saturday afternoon at the KFC Yum Center.

The Cards shot 53.4 percent from the field against the Eagles' zone and assisted on 20 of their 31 made field goals. Damion Lee, who was held scoreless in the first half, led U of L with 16 points. Quentin Snider (13), Chinanu Onuaku (12), Trey Lewis (11) and Ray Spalding (11) also hit double figures.

I keep waiting for an early season clunker against an inferior opponent from these guys, and it just doesn't happen. This has been about as enjoyable a first month of the season I can remember, even with just one game against a quality opponent, because of how easy this team is to root for and how much they appear to enjoy playing with one another.

I don't know what it is exactly, but when you see the type of improvement that is apparent in the play of guys like Chinanu Onuaku and Quentin Snider and Matz Stockman, it's obvious that the climate this season is far more conducive for success than it was a year ago.

More coming from yet another enjoyable day of Louisville basketball, but for now, here's your box score:
