Louisville basketball falls from AP Top 25

The third-longest streak of consecutive AP poll appearances is over.

For the first time in 40 weeks, the Louisville basketball team is unranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

After losses last week to Purdue and Seton Hall, the Cards slipped from No. 17 to the fifth team in the “also receiving votes” category. Both the Boilermakers and Pirates went from unranked to comfortably in the poll this week.

The streak of consecutive appearances for U of L had been the third-longest in program history. The Cardinals appeared in the poll for 68 weeks from 1976-1980, and for 60 straight weeks from 2012-2015. Louisville had last been unranked in the AP poll during the third week (Nov. 23, 2015) of the 2015-16 season.
