North Carolina vs Delaware, 12:30 PM, RSN

Welcome to the final non-conference game of the season. With this being the second FCS team on the schedule this also serves as the final tune-up before UNC hits ACC play. While the non-conference slate doesn't provide the kind of competition to really evaluate this team, there is no shortage of confidence gained for the defense through the first three games.  In 2014, UNC surrendered 126 points in the first three games including 70 to East Carolina in the worst defensive performance in UNC history. So far this season UNC has given up just 45 points and 21 of those game against the reserves in the NC A&T and Illinois games.

Despite the level of competition, this game provides another opportunity for the defense to build on the solid start. There is still room for improvement, especially with the pass rush and run defense and this type of game provides another chance to work on those aspects. With Georgia Tech looming next week, UNC could use every opportunity to work out any defensive kinks.

On the offensive side, the Tar Heels finally found a rhythm last week. After an early Marquise Williams interception the senior returned to his dual threat ways to have his most productive game of the season. Elijah Hood had a solid day with his second 100 yard rushing game of the season and Ryan Switzer finally got that long awaited breakthrough. The formula this week should be more of the same in an effort to stake an huge lead early then afford the starters some rest.

The weather forecast is rainy and the field will have taken over a day's worth of rain by the time the game kicks off. Messy conditions will be the order of the day and make getting control of the game a high priority.
